The next fifty years will be defined by how we integrate the power of the machine with the values of the human heart and spirit. If we succeed we will enter an era of unprecedented prosperity and discovery that could solve the oldest problems of our species. If we fail we risk losing the very things that make us human and the safety that allows our civilization to thrive. The choice is ours to make and the time to start designing that future is right now with every decision we make. We must act with courage and with wisdom and with a deep respect for the life that we are trying to protect.

In the end the story of AI is not a story about machines but a story about us and what we value as a civilization. It is a reflection of our highest aspirations and our deepest fears and our capacity for both creation and destruction. Eric Schmidt and Henry Kissinger have provided us with a roadmap but we are the ones who must walk the path and face the challenges. Let us move forward with the goal of creating a world where technology serves the spirit and where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential. The next fifty years are in our hands and it is up to us to make them great.
